Chelsi’s Story
Real estate was something that Chelsi has been interested in from the beginning but was hesitant to take the necessary leap of faith to make a career change. She spent about 6 years in the sales world, and the combination of being away from her family and her dream of joining the real estate field led her down a different path. Her husband, Casey, convinced her to go for it, and she does not regret it one bit! Chelsi says, “I am so grateful for my amazing husband’s support, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love my job!”
Today, Chelsi answers that her favorite part of her job is the people! “I love getting to meet new people, and helping them find the home or property of their dreams just adds to the fun. I enjoy getting to see the faces of my clients on closing day! It really is the best feeling ever getting to help people look for that home and seeing their face when they find the perfect one.”
Speaking of family, Chelsi’s family is definitely her pride and joy. She married her best friend and biggest supporter, Casey on September 11th, 2011. They bought their first home shortly after in Stockton, where they were both born and raised. Casey works for the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Stockton Dam and has a passion for fishing, hunting, and working with his hands. In 2013, Casey and Chelsi were blessed with their first son, Jax, who is a free spirit who always keeps his parents on their toes! Jax is “all boy” and loves helping his dad do chores on their small farm. In 2017, the family was blessed yet again with a second son named Mason, nicknamed “Moose” by his older brother. Moose is the more reserved of the boys. He prefers to sit back and take it all in, already wanting to do everything his big brother does. Chelsi says, “Casey and I are blessed beyond what we deserve and are thankful to the Good Lord everyday for our perfectly made and healthy boys.”
Blooper Moment
From Chelsi herself: “Well, I was listing a home on some acreage near Clinton, and on the day I was listing and getting pictures it was raining most of the day. After finishing the pictures of the inside of the home, I reluctantly went outside in the rain to attempt some outside pictures of the 15 acres. The previous owner had put in a pretty large garden near the home that was lined with railroad ties that had since been removed. So in my hustling walk around the property to try and still get good pictures in the rain, I wasn’t really watching where I was going. As I walked around the side of the home, I stepped into, well we will just call it as it is, I fell into the trench that the railroad ties had originally been in. I’m not sure the reason for them being buried so deep, but I fell up to my waist in mud and water. I jumped back out as quick as I could hoping the owners did not see what I had done. But there was no hiding the mud all over me when I went to tell them goodbye.”
Expert Insight from Chelsi
If you could only tell people one tip about BUYING a home, what would your advice be?
Before you start looking in person, get pre-approved by your lender. This can move things along so much quicker once you find THE ONE! Of course, get a realtor to assist you in all the negotiating, take care of the paperwork and make sure there are no issues when going into closing day. Make sure you do not skimp on getting an inspection, as this can save the buyer a lot of money in the future.
If you could only tell people one tip about SELLING a home, what would your advice be?
USE A REALTOR!!! There are so many things that go on behind the scenes when selling a home that having a professional to assist you is a must. An agent can be there to help you with so many things like getting the seller more money on the table for their home and even providing help with marketing the listing so it is seen by more people in a broader area. A selling agent will make sure they handle all the negotiating for you along with ensuring a sense of security for the sellers and their home. Another bonus is that an agent will pre-screen everyone wanting to view the home, so you are not just letting random strangers in.
How would you define a successful home sale?
A successful home sale to me is having both sides of the sale being happy and excited about the whole transaction from start to finish! And, of course, a referral from both sides. 🙂
Fun Fact About Chelsi
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
If I could learn to do anything, there are several things but, the one thing I would love to be able to do is learn to paint or be an artist. My grandmother was an artist and even had her own art gallery in Colorado, and that always seemed so amazing to me. She could just look at nature and turn it into a beautiful painting. I would love to be able to do that, and on top of painting, she designed jewelry. She was just all-around talented and I wish it was something you could just pick up and do.
