  • Clean it up
First things first, take some time to take care of the deep cleaning that’s tough to get around to. Dust off the fans, wash the windows, wipe down the baseboards. You get the idea. It may seem simple, but taking time to highlight the greatness of your home just the way it is could be all it takes to add that sparkle you’re looking for.
  • Structural
Once you’ve got things cleaned up, take a look at the structure and foundation of your home. You may even consider getting your home inspected. Foundation issues, signs of mold, water damage, roof issues, and traces of pests are some of the red flags that send buyers running. If you can get these issues taken care of BEFORE you try selling, you’ll avoid a major headache.
  • Doors
The front door can either impress and welcome potential buyers as they arrive or serve as a warning sign that makes them hesitate to look any further. You want your front door to make a positive statement. Maybe it’s as simple as a fresh coat of paint, welcoming decor, or updated house numbers! Find a way to make your door intriguing from the curb and memorable when people drive past.
  • Landscaping
Less is more! It may be time to declutter the yard. An orderly yard with a clear walking path will lend to better curb appeal. Take time to mow the lawn, get rid of the weeds, and touch up the mulch. You may also consider adding a splash of color with outdoor containers and fresh flowers to catch people’s eye.
  • Kitchen
The expectations for a kitchen are changing in today’s housing market. Buyers are looking for updated appliances, a beautiful backsplash, granite or marble countertops, refinished cabinets, etc. Remodeling the kitchen can be a major undertaking, so take it one day at a time and maybe just start small.
  • Bathrooms
Bathrooms can be a big deal for buyers. They are looking for updated faucets, fixtures, and flooring. Make sure the area is clean and tidy – no towels hanging, no clutter on the counters, and a no water spots on the mirrors.
  • Flooring
Thanks to home makeover shows and housing trends, wood floors are becoming more and more of an expectation rather than a luxury. Think about pulling up that old carpet and replacing it with laminate or wood flooring.
  • Neutral paint colors
Painting is another easy way to transform a room. If you’re going to paint, go with neutral tones. Gray is an extremely popular wall color on the market right now! It looks good in any room, in any home!
