8 Landscaping Tips to Help Your House Sell Itself
Many buyers are taking advantage of this warm weather to shop for homes. What can you do to make your house STAND OUT? Take time to maintain your yard so you get those house hunters’ attention before they even turn into the driveway! Let your yard do the talking by taking advantage of these landscaping tips.
Tidy Up the Yard

Your first step should be to clean up and declutter your yard. Remove any extra lawn furniture, toys or ornaments to give your yard a clean, simple look. Once you’ve got things picked up, take time to rake the leaves, mow the grass, reseed dry spots, and clear the branches. Hint: mow your lawn to about two inches to prevent your lawn from being vulnerable to dry spots and weeds.
Manage the Mulch
You may not think it makes a difference, but a fresh layer of mulch might be just the thing that catches your buyer’s eye! Fresh mulch brings fullness and color to your flower beds and shows that you have been attentive to your yard.
Outdoor Containers
Many people are aware of the importance of staging the inside of their home, but have you thought about staging the outside? Container plants allow you to add interest to patios, porches and doorways. Large tropical plants are some of our favorites! If you already have some container plants on display, take some time to spruce them up with some pruning and fresh soil.

Add a POP of Color
There’s nothing like pretty flowers in springtime! Consider planting a fresh flower bed or adding some new decorative flower pots to your outdoor décor.
Tend to the Trees and Shrubs
It’s always a good idea to get rid of those dead branches and reshape those overgrown trees and shrubs. The goal is to show how well your yard and/or garden can be maintained. You don’t want the potential buyer to look and your yard and think of how much work it will be to get it in order.
Faucet Fixes
Repair any damaged or leaking faucets. A leaky faucet could be a turn-off for buyers if it leads them to believe there are other plumbing issues throughout the home.
Water for a Good Impression

If you have sufficient notice, try to water your lawn about 90 minutes before you show your home to a potential buyer. The water will give your yard its best look and let the buyer know that they yard is well-maintained. If you have a sprinkler system, it’s not a bad idea to have it running while the buyers are looking around just to show that it’s working properly.
Power Wash Dirty Surfaces
In a short amount of time, you can make grungy, grimy surfaces SHINE with a good power washing. Focus on the driveway, sidewalks, and front steps, but don’t forget about fences as well as brick and vinyl siding. Removing signs of an “aging” home is always a good idea!
